ORIGINS AND HISTORY
When the supernatural super-villain known as Legion managed to kidnap and imprison the angel Gabriel, he subjected the heavenly being to a barrage of torturous tests. The creature from the deepest depths of hell was attempting to discover weaknesses in the ethereal physiology of Heaven’s most trusted messenger, which would in turn give Legion and his dark troops an advantage against the immortal soldiers of the Most High.
And it worked! Legion was able to reveal combinations of mystical methods that could greatly hinder the supernatural speed and strength of angels during battle. He found that there were certain rare substances existing in the natural world that, if synthesized correctly, could be used to create destructive weapons in the spiritual world.
Eventfully an all-out assault on the underworld by an angel merc squad freed Gabriel, but not before Legion was able to clone him. And that’s how Gabe X was born.
As hell’s most skilled and sadistic operative, Legion has been tasked with several missions – but his most dangerous adversaries are the members of the Sacred Asylum, a team of powerful hyper-beings who all believe themselves to be historical figures from famous biblical stories that have been transported to our present day. Whether that’s really true or not has yet to be revealed. But what we all definitely know to be true is that they all have extreme super powers and they use them to fight evil. And many times that evil has been in the form of Gabe X, who has been assigned by Legion to take them down.
Gabe X first encounters the Sacred Asylum during an attempt to steal the Ark of the Covenant from a hidden chamber deep beneath the ground. He was mere moments from uncovering it’s powerful secrets when Exodus Red showed up. The two of them engaged in a spectacular battle with Gabe X initially holding the advantage due to the fact that Exodus Red’s greatest power was somewhat nullified due to the initial lack of access to water (which he can control, manipulate and weaponize). Eventually, however, the hero came across and underground spring and was able to defeat Gabe X, forcing the anti-angel to abandon his mission… at least for the time being.
Aside from encountering the Sacred Asylum during incidental battles, Gabe X has often challenged them directly by attacking their home base. Though, to this day, he has never been able to defeat the supernatural super team, he continues to poke holes in their defenses and he believes that it is only a matter of time before he finds a way to dismantle and destroy them.
POWERS & ABILITIES
In the natural world, Gabe X possesses super strength and super speed. His wings, though tattered and somewhat deformed give him the ability to fly.
He can also harness spiritual energy, which gives him a number of powers, including astral projection, mind control, soul possession, telekinesis, telepathy, teleportation, invisibility and spectral vision. He can also leap between the natural realm and the spiritual realm, which is to say he can travel to hell and back any time he wants to.
He is also a skilled swordsman.
WEAPONS, EQUIPMENT & TOOLS
Gabe X’s weapon of choice is a cursed blade that has come to be known as the “Angel Slayer.” He also carries a “demon daggers.”
Despite Gabe X’s sadistic tendencies, there is an inkling of hope that he may one day find salvation, as he sometimes struggles to contain the inherent righteousness that dwells deep inside of him due to teh the fact he was indeed created through the cloning of a true angel. His angelic nature is most evidently seen during his visits to the New York City home of a 10 year-old girl named Alexis (also known as Mirth), who possesses the power of teleportation, but is also cursed with the burden of hearing voices in her head. Gabe X, for some reason that he can’t even explain, has taken pity on her and on several occasions has come to her and used his astral powers to temporarily silence the voices, allowing her to have moments of peace. He often longs to free her of the voices permanently, but that power lies beyond his capabilities. The only being in the universe that knows of his visits to Mirth is the one whom he was born from, Gabriel. The angel will sometimes sit and speak with him during these serene periods. But while the conversations usually begin cordially, they inevitably end in violence, as it is clearly apparent that they are two sides of one very explosive coin.
It is during one of these battles, when something extraordinary happens. Gabriel gains the upper hand and for the first time is able to land a sword strike that cuts Gabe X! The anti-angel cries out in pain and falls to the ground. As he tries to regain his footing, he feels the presence of someone behind him. He turns swiftly, brandishing his Angel-Slayer blade, preparing to strike back at his adversary only to find that Gabriel is gone. Instead the precious face of Mirth is looking up at him…
